We’re Back!

Tom and I had the rare opportunity to get away from all responsibilities and fly to Vegas. Well, I was away from all responsibilities but Tom was in a conference each day. It was so nice to just be alone for a few days!!

I was surprised to be picked up by a LIMO when I got to the Vegas airport. Tom and I flew out on separate flights so we arrived at different times. Carissa (Tom’s wonderful friend and co-worker) arranged for the limo rides for us and a chocolate treat and champagne in our room! (Thanks Carissa!! I think my very favorite was the chocolate. It was scrumptious.)

We stayed at the Treasure Island Hotel. It was beutiful with several restaurants, shops, shows, pool and of course a casino.

Treasure Island. They had nightly shows on these boats outside the hotel that people would flock to watch.

Here are some of the sights we saw as we walked the strip.

The Excaliber. Tom and I ate at the buffet – it was yummy.

They have many beutiful fountains and lights everywhere you look.

My honest overall feelings of our trip:
You look at all these pictures and it looks great but I know you are all thinking “so did you like Las Vegas”?

I had a great time being away for a few days! I probably would never pick to go back to Vegas. It’s not my kind of town. It was definitely something to see and Tom and I had fun. I thought it was very expensive. You walk a LOT! The thing I most noticed was it was very LOUD. I must be really used to the quiet of the country or something. Everywhere you go there is loud music and noisy slot machines and advertising. The lights at night are pretty and the “people watching” is at it’s best. You see some interesting things there.

All in all, I am glad I went. I enjoyed myself and the time of having a break from the kids. Tom and I enjoyed being together alone immensely. I thoroughly enjoyed sleeping in and laying at the pool. Yes, I gambled and YES, I LOST! (at one point I gambled three dollars and was up to $60.00! Then I lost it all. . .oh well.)

A special thanks to all the grandparents for taking over for us while we were gone. The kids had a great time with you all. We love you!!!!

When I look around at all the really cool toys that kids have today, I hear “man, don’t ya wish we had those when we were little!” And actually, most of the time I would have to say “I guess. . .” . BUT there is one toy that my kids have that causes me to say “I do wish I had that one!”

It’s the John Deere Gator!!

Uncle Mike surprised the boys with it a couple of Christmas’s ago. Since he works for the big J.D. Corporation, both of the boys seem to love all the John Deere paraphernalia. This one is their favorite! We’ve kept it over at my Mom and Dad’s and they have run over hill and dell to their hearts content. What freedom!

Then on the 4th we brought it over for all the kids to enjoy. They each enjoyed trying their hand at driving for the first time. It was adorable!

I guess you could call this “four wheelin’”.

Oh to be little for just a couple of hours so I could take this baby out for a spin!

Crazy Days of Summer!

Every year about this time Tom starts saying “You know what happens after the 4th of July. . .the Summer is just gone.” It’s true. I’ve found myself saying it this year. I can’t believe how quickly time is passing. We have been so busy this weekend I haven’t had time to post anything. So hear are some snippets of our weekend and holiday.

Sweet little Evely has found that she loves to climb. She can climb into her hairchair, on the coffee table and the couch. I came in the kitchen this weekend to see her on top of the table finishing off Jaden’s pancakes!

We had a ball trying out Mom and Dad’s new pool liner. The other fell apart and we couldn’t open the pool until a new was one was put in. The water was really warm on Friday and the kids had a lot of fun. . .not to mention me too.

And yet another table top picture.

Doesn’t the water look inviting! It was great.

We had a great time at Chandler’s
Superman birthday party Friday night. Thanks for inviting us Jon and Amber! Amber has a really sweet birthday post on “3 Little Whites”.

Independence Day

The Fourth was so much fun! We had some old friends and new friends over from church. There were about 15 kids here and they had a ball. We grilled and ate wonderful food, played, set off fireworks and visited. Then in the evening we went to our church parking lot to watch the fireworks display. We all reminisced about getting out the coffee can and untwisting firecrackers for hours and then lighting them off one at a time. Remember that?

I love seeing the 4th through the eyes of the kids. Julian loves fireworks and says “Daddy, I’m ready to go firecrackerin!” Jaden runs to the house yelling “NO COLORS! I DON’T like colors!”
