smileyMore good news to report. . .Mom got her tumor marker back from this blood test when she went for her 4th treatment. The number has fallen from 70 to 37. Yeah! When it gets below 20 it is in the normal range.

She is going to do all 6 treatments. She is not looking forward to this, as it will be Fall before she really starts to feel better. However, she knows that she might as well “Kick Cancer’s Butt” while she is at it (one of her Dr.’s phrases).

Hello, Big Girl Bed!

I promised my next post would be on Evely’s new bed. First, however, I must give a picture and a last sigh to the crib.

Please pay a little homage with me. . .

This is the last time Evely used the crib. Yes, she is wearing her shoes. To take them off would start a small civil war in the household. Eeeek.

Tom and I put the new Big Girl Bed together after heaving her crib downstairs for the garage sale. She just couldn’t get it. We got the frame together and started telling her that she was going to sleep on her new bed tonight. We exclaimed about the bigness of it and how she was a big girl now. She looked on with quite the puzzled look on her face. Her little brows kept drawing closer and closer together the more she looked at the wooden frame and slats. Finally she said “Mama, I don’t want to.” She said it very softly but then gained momentum and repeated it over and over.

Finally when we put the mattress on the frame she saw it as it would be – comfortable and bed-like. Her face lit up in a huge smile and she said “IT’S MY BED!!!” and hopped right on it.

It was the cutest thing ever. She has done really well sleeping in it, her new freedom of getting up has consisted of creeping over to her book basket and reading in bed. I love finding her amongst a bed full of books in the morning.

She asked her Daddy to come sleep in her bed.

Baseball. . .and the many uses of a cup.

Oh my goodness! It’s a new post. . .yeah, yeah, yeah!

School has officially let out for Summer break today and I will try to do better at blogging. I know many people are tired of pulling up the site to see nothing new. So here is a funny for your day. .

Julian has gotten his baseball season off to a good start. They just finished their third game last night and the team has one two of the games. They are a pretty good little team and each week I can see progress. He is really enjoying playing.

Here are some pics of his very first game. It was really fun to watch this new experience take place in his little life.

This is my favorite! Isn’t he cute!

So here is the funniest thing about this day. . .

One thing we had to purchase to go with his uniform was a jock strap and cup. The night of the game Tom takes this strappy contraption out of the package and begins to show me the workings of it. I felt like I was having a bra explained to me for the first time. (I’ve never examined one of these). He explained the “jock” and the “cup” and how it snaps inside it’s cover. Quite fascinating. Tom sort of sighed this big sigh and said “Wow, this is like a right of passage! Come on Julian, let’s go to your room!” I had to laugh.

Then when he came out in his uniform – completely proud – he went around to the little ones and showed them how you could knock on his cup and hear it. I really laughed when I saw Evely knocking on Julian’s crotch.

When we got to the game it was hysterical. You could see that all these little boys were wearing something very foreign to them. They adjusted, knocked, tugged and held onto them! I can gladly report that now that they have completed their third game, they are settled into the feel for all their gear.

******************************

Another reason that I haven’t had time to blog is because my Mom and I had a quick one day garage sale. It amazingly takes a good week to prepare for those things! This one was sad because I got rid of my crib – forever. The crib that I remember like yesterday putting together with Tom. Yup, the crib that held all three of my babies. The same crib that each child moved out of to house a new one coming. Now it’s gone. . .forever. No more crib. . .forever. . .

Okay, you get the point! It was a hard moment to load that up in someone’s truck for a mere $50.00.

BUT, dear Evely has a new toddler bed. She loves it and it is so cute. That will be my next post, so stay tuned.

Anyway, while getting ready for the garage sale Tom yelled at me to get the camera and come see Evely’s new purse.

Here it is!

Can you make it out?

Yup, it’s the cup!

There are many uses for a good jock strap and cup and it serves nicely for a purse of a young lady getting into her car.

More Good News

I just wanted to keep everyone updated on Mom’s progress. . .

Mom went this Wed. for her third chemo treatment. They did another tumor marker count with her blood work. She just had the marker count done a week ago, so it had only been a few days since her previous one. The results came back that it went down another 10 points!! They weren’t sure if they would see any change from the week before. . .so that is more good news! That brings her count down to 70 – so It has dropped over 1/2 from what it was last month.

The Dr. did want her to do at least four treatments and she has agreed to do that. She is hoping for no more than that. After four they really start taking a toll on her body.

Thank you all for praying. We appreciate it so much! I will keep you informed of any more news I get.

What is a Little Boy Made of?

Tree Frogs, snails and turtle tails. . .That’s what little boys are made of!

A Turtle Tail

The other day we were driving home and ran across a box turtle crawling across our road. So we stopped and put him in the van to take home and examine. The funny thing was that I put him right behind my seat and in front of Jaden, we were a block from being home so I felt pretty safe with him right there – how fast can a turtle move?

All the way Evely is half crying, half screaming that the turtle would get her. Jaden kept yelling “he’s moooovin’, Mom!” We pull in the garage and I get the kids out – both of them had me carry them out of the van and they had their legs hiked as high as possible until completely free of the turtled area.

Then I go back for the turtle. . .where was the turtle? I looked and looked. I was starting to get as jittery as the kids not knowing where that thing was. Finally I found that he has slid all the way into the back.

Evely hated the turtle and cried if she got anywhere near him. Jaden promptly named him Michaelangelo after the cool Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle.

Gotta love the macro setting on a camera! Doesn’t he look happy to have his picture taken!

A Froggy Friend

Two days ago, I was cleaning around the deck and found a lovely little tree frog. He was sound asleep and looked just like a rock sitting there. I called the kids and got the same response as the turtle. Evely did hold Mr. Sticky but the love immediately wore off and she began to cry and wanted him off her hands. Jaden wouldn’t leave it alone and had a pet all afternoon. Good thing the frog had a nap before Jaden got ahold of him!

It just amazes me the beauty in the creatures God made for our enjoyment. What a wonder the world around us is!

It never ceases to amaze me at the little creatures that my kids are too. The in-born responses that my baby girl has is totally opposite of the boys. Hearing her say “eeewww” at a picture of a snake or spider in her little girl voice just makes me laugh. I love seeing the diffferences in each of my children and how they are so unique.
