No, the positive thing is not a pregnancy test!

Actually, I wanted to let you all know about my Mom’s chemo treatment. She had it on Monday. She was really dreading all the weird side effects that they went over with her. This one has some really strange things that can happen to your hands and feet and stuff. However, she is doing GREAT! The symptoms compared to the last type of chemo are much milder. She really feels pretty good.

So thanks for your continued prayers. Thanks for remembering us and all the encouragement.

I will let you know when her tumor marker comes back. Pray that this treatment does take care of the cancer – completely!

I Heard Spring Arrived

Well, this last week was probably one of my busiest that I can remember since… probably Christmas! So much going on. So many festivities for Easter, Julian’s upcoming birthday, get togethers, church drama, etc. etc.

Oh and I got a new NOOK! Yup, it came from Aldi. It’s exactly what we’ve been looking for in our kitchen. I’ve had a big old table in a very small space and all the chairs and moving it around was driving me crazy. So this fit the bill. I saw it on the ad and then Tom came home that night talking about it too. So we bought it and put it together. It took a little time for it to grow on me, but I love it now. My mom helped me make some cushions for the seats last week too.

Isn’t it cute?

This was our first meal at the nook. It was St. Patrick’s Day and the potatoes on the corner were Colcannon.

Easter was a fun event. We dyed eggs on Sat. afternoon and then had all the family over on Easter for a scrumptious ham dinner and more egg hunting. We had a great time; everyone stayed later and played games.

Here’s some pics of the kids coloring eggs and of course eating them…

Where’s the Spring weather to go with this Spring? I’m in need of 70 degree days with lots of sunshine, kids that can go outside to play for more than five minutes, bike riding, going for walks, and grilling! I’m ready….bring it on.

Keeping you Posted….

Mom met with her Dr. on Monday. They discussed the new chemo treatment that she will begin immediately. She had an echo gram done on her heart on Wednesday and it was fine, so they have scheduled her first chemo for this Monday morning.

This treatment has a lot of the same side affects as the other one. She will have it every four weeks instead of every three weeks and it doesn’t take as long to receive the treatment as the previous one did. They would give her a maximum of four of these treatments.

Please pray for stamina and continued lifted spirits for her. Pray that this will be very effective and that it will completely get rid of the cancer cells that have continued to live through the last two rounds of treatments.

On With the Fight…

It’s been 4 weeks since my Mom’s last tumor marker was taken. She had it taken on Tuesday and yesterday found out that it had gone from 34 to 92. Not so great news for us. The Dr. has given her a choice of either waiting for a little while and monitoring the number or going ahead with chemo now. They would also change her type of chemo to something different than previously taken.

She is leaning toward going ahead with chemo pretty quick and not give it time to grow a lot more.

We would appreciate your continued prayers. We are continuing to trust the Lord with her life and health. He is always good even in the face of bad news.

My Thrift Store Find Created a Mess

On Valentines Day, Tom had the day off and we headed out for some lunch together. We stopped in my favorite thrift store for a few minutes and on the way out I noticed they were bringing out some bedding on a big rack. I went over and saw this beautiful comforter set with shams and bedskirt all for about $22.00 and it looked brand new! It was dry clean only and I wasn’t sure about it, so we left it there. BUT after discussing it for what seemed like hours, my Mom and I drove back over to the store right before they closed and bought it!

I got it home and washed it in my washer and it came out perfect and when I put it on the bed I LOVED it! I couldn’t believe my find. It was such a blessing. I have been looking for a new comforter set for a couple of years – even to the point of buying one and taking it back. This is exactly what I was looking for.

However, you know when you buy something and put it in your room and then everything else looks wrong….well, that’s how this was. The comforter set just didn’t look right in my old dingy room that I was thoroughly sick of. So it gave me an excuse to start projecting.

Pardon the mess. I happened to snap this picture to have a “before” pic right before taking the room apart to paint.

I went to Home Depot to find some paint swatches and happened to look at the rack of “oops” paints and there was just the color I needed in the Behr premium plus paint. We painted the room and it was exactly what I was looking for – all for $5.00!

Even the boys got in on a little bit of painting. Julian was a big help!

I recovered my old antique dresser with some faux leather and it turned out great. Got some new art stuff for the walls (90% off at Joanne’s) and it’s almost done.

Here it is! I love the way it turned out. I like my peanut butter colored walls and new bedset. It seems very peaceful and moody now.

I still have a few things I want to do before I call it complete, but my “mess” is starting to come together. I think I might even try my hand at making my own curtains. I’m excited to say that my makeover has cost me a grand total of $62.00!!
