Birth Celebrations

This was such a busy weekend for our family. The sad and happy all at the same time. My Uncle Harold passed away last week and Friday we attended his funeral. Though sad, it was also a celebration of his home going to Heaven. It was so nice to see my family together and it’s too bad that we wait till funerals to get together.

This weekend was also Julian’s 9th birthday and my brother, Michael’s ….well, his birthday too. I won’t announce his aged-ness to the world. I will say that he is OLDER than myself! ;)

Saturday we had a birthday plan to take Julian and some school buddies to see the new Monster Vs. Aliens movie and then back here for pizza and cake. However, as we watched the weather all day Friday it was obvious that the plan would have to change. When we heard that we could get up to 10 inches of snow Saturday morning, we decided to have all the boys come over and play in the snow. That would be fun! So Saturday morning we awoke to a grass covered earth outside and no snow in sight….hmmm. The sleet started around 10:00 am and we just had a fun indoor party here.

Julian got some speed stack cups from my parents for his Birthday and the other boys brought some over and had some competitions. It was a great indoor game.

We got Julian a new bike and it was a hit.

Eatin’ pizza. Despite all the plan changes, it was a success.

Mike came down for the funeral and his birthday as well. We went to Mom’s Saturday night for more cake and celebrating.

jb5

Happy Birthday, Mike! It was great to be together on your special day.

Sunday was met with more celebrations with the family. More pizza at Mazzios..
jb6

Then on to Grandma’s for MORE cake and ice cream…

All three of the kids were surprised with scooter’s! They had a ball rolling all over the driveway. Even some of the adults showed us how it was done. Go Mary Kay!!

jb9

Even though this looks like a gorgeous Spring day, a few hours earlier the ground had been covered with several inches of snow. What was left in the yard ended up on Daniel and Jonathan.

jb10
That was more than a snowball!

Thanks to all the family for all the gifts and just being together. I enjoy my family so much and I am thankful for their love, support and encouragement.

Another very special moment was that Evely asked Jesus to be her Savior last night. It will be easy to remember since it happened on Julian’s birthday.

Here are a couple of pictures of her yesterday. She is a very sweet, fun-loving little girl. She began to ask me a lot of questions last night about life and death, being afraid and about Jesus. She said she was ready to ask Jesus to come inside her but she just “needed some help”. So I was honored and humbled to pray with my daughter.

A truly memorable day!

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14

Keeping you Up To Date…

For those that keep up with Mom by the blog…

Mom has had a PET scan and her results were not good. She didn’t tolerate the last kind of chemo at all. So the Dr. has suggested a different kind of chemo and Mom has agreed to try it. She will get it once a week for three weeks and then off a week, then repeat.

We appreciate your continued prayers and support! We trust in God for her life. It ultimately is in His very capable hands. We appreciate each day and what it brings, knowing that He is in control.

Man vs. Food….or rather, Boy vs. Food

The other evening we stopped at Subway for dinner. We are always on the quest to get the kids to eater healthier when going out, so we thought this would be a good alternative. We debated on how many subs to order and Julian insisted that he was starving and would like a footlong. I thought it was crazy to order one for him but after rehearsing in my mind all the enormous amounts of food he can put away at home, we did.

I had no idea that an almost 9 year old can eat so much. I’ve always been told how much teenagers eat and I can only imagine the grocery bill when both boys hit puberty!

So did he do it? Did he overcome the footlong challenge? Check it out…

mvf1
He was up to the challenge and hit it head on.

mvf2
Half done…..

mvf3
Still going strong.

mvf4
Awww…the agony of defeat. That was all that was left.

I think in another month he’ll do it!

Surely God is My Help

I’m posting an email that my Mom sent out to family and friends this last week. She will be having a Pet Scan on the 17th and then will discuss with the Dr. what the next step will be. No matter what, we have a Great Physician that is in control. He is actively at work in our lives and He is still on the throne. Thanks so much for your prayers!

Surely God is my help; The Lord is the one who sustains me. Psalm 54:4

Many of you have asked that I keep you updated as to what is going on and the results of the “tumor marker” blood test taken last Tuesday. It was to give an indication as to the effectiveness of the chemo drug I am currently taking. The cancer center called this morning with the results which were not good as the numbers had more than doubled instead of going down as we had hoped. I am to take the chemo treatment next Tuesday the 10th, and a Pet & CT scan have been scheduled for March 17 followed by my regularly scheduled chemo treatment.

I appreciate your prayers for God’s hand of healing, wisdom for my doctor, and God to be glorified. Truly He is that “friend that sticketh closer than a brother.”

Thanks again for you love, prayers, and acts of kindness.

In His care,
Judy
