Mom and I at a local tea room a week ago.

Today my Mom went to the Dr. for the results of a very important PET scan. They found that the cancer in her abdomen is holding about the same and another spot up on her clavical area actually shrunk some. The Dr. is pleased that it’s at least holding steady and not getting worse. He knows that its not a perfect situation, but the goal right now is to give her as much time as possible and in a way in which she can cope. So they will continue to go forward with the same treatments they have been giving her. She takes chemo 5 days in a row and then is off for two weeks after that and then starts over again.

Even though this report is not remission, we praise God for the report. It was a good one and is encouraging to us. Mom is such a trooper. I seem to learn so much from her each day. She is able to give me a perspective that I haven’t experienced before. She helps me to look at life one day at a time and to leave the gift of life in God’s hands. It is a place of resting and peace that only knowing Jesus can provide. I say that in the most earnest way that I can!

Thanks for your continued prayers. We appreciate them so much.

Lookout School…here we come!

Last night we went to “meet the teacher night” and then took the kids to pick out one of the 31 flavors of icecream. (I had the Jamoca Almond Fudge ;) ) On the way there Tom was telling me how the chapter would close that night and today would open a brand new one. He was right. I heard the page turn when I rolled out of bed at the crack of dawn.

Jaden is off to Kindergarten. I can’t believe the last 5 years have flown by so quickly and next year Evely will go. So here are pics of my morning. There are two pics of Jaden in his new Kindergarten class from last night. Julian said it would embarrass him to take a picture of him, so as much as I wanted to I refrained from whipping out the camera and snapping photos. Fourth grade is a big deal and I didn’t want to mortify him right out of the gate.

I’ll let the pics tell the story here. (One “mom” disclaimer is that I had new polo shirts for the boys to wear today but as you can see they picked something “more suitable”. I think it’s funny because what they picked represents each of their personalities completely.)

Today it is August 16th. It is 91 degrees outside. School has not yet started. The swimming pools are still open. I’m wearing shorts and a tank top. I even sweated today. I live in the midwest where the seasons change and you notice them changing…yet, today when we went shopping at Hobby Lobby on the hunt for oil pastels, we saw…..

CHRISTMAS TREES IN THE FRONT WINDOW. THEY WERE EVEN LIT UP!!!

Who would be buying a Christmas tree at this time of the year?

Merry Christmas everyone! :)
