Last night we got our wet pumpkins off the front porch and started carving them. The kids picked out what they wanted and did most of the work themselves. I was impressed with how well they cleaned them out and carved them!

If you peek under the table you can see Snickers napping.

Jaden needed some help with finishing his carving. Tom jumped in and helped. :)

They turned out great! Evely was so excited she kept dancing around. Yesterday was her first day in about a month that I saw her old self. I’m so glad she’s getting over Mono! This has been a very long month of being cooped up together and being ill. Hopefully we are done for the season.

Here’s a funny…

Check out my cat box

I couldn’t find the cat the other day and here she was sound asleep. I usually find her asleep in the kitchen sink or on top of the kitchen cabinets.

For those who keep up with Mom through this means, she is struggling but hanging in there. Her marker counts keep going up and they will take her marker number earlier next time to see if there is any use to keep her on the current chemo. If it’s not helping they will take her off of it.

She has been in touch with a place in Tennessee that has another treatment available. We are waiting to hear from them to see if she might be a candidate for this treatment. If you want to check out the site it is neoplas.org

Pray that she will know what to do about this trip. If she is to go, she will need to gain some strength in order to make the trip down. She has friends that are pilots and have volunteered to fly her there which would be a huge blessing.

In the midst of it all, God is in control. Nothing takes Him by surprise. We continue to look up.

Jaden’s 6th Birthday – Piggy Flu Style

I’m getting this post up very late because we are still in the middle of Swine Flu at our house. Going on day 10! All the kids have come down with it and Julian has developed viral pneumonia from it. However, I think we are starting to get better and the worst of it is over…I HOPE!

Jaden had his 6th birthday in the midst of all the fevers and coughs. Poor guy, we had to cancel his birthday parties and festivities. We made the best of it and have a special weekend planned later this month.

Here are a few pics of his special day:

Here’s the birthday boy early in the morning and ready to open his gifts before Tom went to work.

bday2
One of his favorite gifts is his Air Hog car that can drive on the walls. Yes, they make stuff like this now…

bday3
Jaden’s Kindergarten teacher called and had his class sing Happy Birthday to him. Very sweet!

Here’s a picture Mom and big 6yr old with the birthday ice cream. No one really wanted cake on this day.

About Jaden:
He’s the fun-loving kid. He is extremely happy, full of energy and life. He is really smart and tries really hard at all his school work. If he doesn’t finish his coloring at school he brings it home and finishes it. All school work MUST go on the fridge! Jaden likes to make people laugh but in public is very shy. He won the “Rock Star” award for the month of September at school for Respect. Jaden has always been my easiest kid. He’s the middle child, though, and also the loudest. It brings out the best qualities in him. It’s fun to watch his little mind work and plan and his imagination just floors me sometimes. He’s our daredevil and we’ll never forget how he set the garage on fire a couple of weeks ago! That’s for another post.

Happy Birthday to my Jaden. I can’t believe it’s been six years already!
