Another update on Mom’s progress with Chemo…

She received her updated tumor marker count last week. It went down to 25. That’s not a big drop from where it was – just a couple points, but it did drop! That is good. It is also still “normal”. Praise God.

The Dr. wants her to do one more treatment. Pray for her as she endures one more of these and that God will continue to bring healing and rid the cancer from her body. Thank you all for your steadfastness in prayer, encouragement and faith!

It’s NORMAL

Mom had some great news this past week. She had her 4th treatment of chemo on Tuesday. She got her tumor marker count from the third treatment this week and the count is NORMAL. It’s below thirty. It’s a high “normal” but it is normal! Praise the Lord!

She is very excited. She is tolerating the side effects and so far no hair loss. Yeah!

Thanks, again, everyone for all the continued prayers and encouragement.

By the way….
I know I am doing a terrible job with my blog. I have so many pictures and posts to get to. I will try to get some things posted this week. It’s just been so busy….I know, what could a stay-at-home Mom do all day! Well, let me tell ya……try it. :)

AWESOME NEWS!!!!

Last Friday Mom went and had another blood draw to check her tumor marker. They did this to see if this chemo was having any effect on the cancer before her next treatment. Today she went in to get her results and talk to the dr. If the marker count went up they would talk about doing something different….

So she got her results today and the count went from 419 to 70.6!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah!!! Couldn’t have asked for much better news. Praise the Lord!!!

Mom is very excited and they will go ahead with the treatment today. She does have some hard side effects from this chemo but they are tolerable if it is working. She also has not lost her hair as of this point.

Psalm 34
I bless God every chance I get; my lungs expand with his praise.

I live and breathe God;
if things aren’t going well, hear this and be happy:

Join me in spreading the news;
together let’s get the word out.

God met me more than halfway,
he freed me from my anxious fears.

Look at him; give him your warmest smile.
Never hide your feelings from him.

When I was desperate, I called out,
and God got me out of a tight spot.

God’s angel sets up a circle
of protection around us while we pray.

Open your mouth and taste, open your eyes and see—
how good God is.
Blessed are you who run to him.

Regarding Mom

Hi everyone!

I wanted to give all of you that are praying and thinking of Mom an update. She got her tumor marker count this last week when she had her second round of this new chemo. It wasn’t good – it went to 413. Really high. They will do another count on the 16th to see if this second round is affecting the counts. If it’s not then they will do something different at the next treatment the following week.

Please pray that the count comes down or that whatever they switch her to will have a very big impact on this cancer.

We are keeping our faith. God can and does what He wants. We know that He has all power to completely heal every cell in her being!

A positive thing!

No, the positive thing is not a pregnancy test!

Actually, I wanted to let you all know about my Mom’s chemo treatment. She had it on Monday. She was really dreading all the weird side effects that they went over with her. This one has some really strange things that can happen to your hands and feet and stuff. However, she is doing GREAT! The symptoms compared to the last type of chemo are much milder. She really feels pretty good.

So thanks for your continued prayers. Thanks for remembering us and all the encouragement.

I will let you know when her tumor marker comes back. Pray that this treatment does take care of the cancer – completely!

Mom met with her Dr. on Monday. They discussed the new chemo treatment that she will begin immediately. She had an echo gram done on her heart on Wednesday and it was fine, so they have scheduled her first chemo for this Monday morning.

This treatment has a lot of the same side affects as the other one. She will have it every four weeks instead of every three weeks and it doesn’t take as long to receive the treatment as the previous one did. They would give her a maximum of four of these treatments.

Please pray for stamina and continued lifted spirits for her. Pray that this will be very effective and that it will completely get rid of the cancer cells that have continued to live through the last two rounds of treatments.

On With the Fight…

It’s been 4 weeks since my Mom’s last tumor marker was taken. She had it taken on Tuesday and yesterday found out that it had gone from 34 to 92. Not so great news for us. The Dr. has given her a choice of either waiting for a little while and monitoring the number or going ahead with chemo now. They would also change her type of chemo to something different than previously taken.

She is leaning toward going ahead with chemo pretty quick and not give it time to grow a lot more.

We would appreciate your continued prayers. We are continuing to trust the Lord with her life and health. He is always good even in the face of bad news.

Another report.

Today Mom got her tumor marker count back. They are now sending her lab work to a different lab. At this lab the results are considered normal if they are 1 – 35. Last time it was 19 but it went up to 32 this time. The rise isn’t good, she is waiting to hear from her Dr with what he thinks they should do at this point.

Mom was very disappointed but she is not overtaken with anxiety. Only faith in a God who loves us can do that. Truly! She is trusting him with her life and knows that He has her in His hand.

Follow-up – Mom heard from the dr. yesterday and they are not yet overly concerned with her numbers. They will wait another four weeks and then recheck her counts. Her response was another month to pray and heal and praise God.

Last week Mom had her routine Cat scans and PET scans done. She reviewed the results with the Dr. yesterday. The Cat scan showed nothing but the PET scan showed a couple of small areas that looked suspicious. They were dense and could be a sign of cancer forming. They did her tumor marker count and today she heard back that it went from 9 to 19. That is still in “normal” range but the rise is not a good indication.

At this point they will wait 4 weeks and do another tumor marker level. If it continues to rise then they will discuss chemo again. I know that right now, Mom feels like she just finished chemo and it is hard to even think about.

Please pray with us that this tumor marker count will stay down, that God will continue to provide for her healing and also for peace of mind for Mom.

Here is a picture of my family at Christmas.

But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.

good2

I know many of you keep up on Mom’s progress through this site. I wanted to let you know that she is doing well!

She just went back to the oncologist for a checkup this week and yesterday received her tumor marker numbers again. They were at 9! That’s really good. They have been staying under 10 each time she goes. We are praising the Lord for good reports and health.
