Yesterday I enjoyed having all the kids at home for MLK day. Julian was taking care of Evely in his usual way. He had gotten her dressed and was putting her shoes on and I could hear him quietly explaining something very serious to her. Every so often she would ask a question and I got curious. I went and listened at the door and Julian was saying “And then they put her in jail…” Evely: “Why did they put her in jail, Julian?” She was horrified. So I stuck my head in and asked “who’s in jail?”
Julian: “Rosa Parks, Mom. I’m teaching Evely all about why we have Martin Luther King day.” We went on and explained really well about MLK and his footprint that he left in America. What a guy! I guess he is listening and learning.

At least your kids school taught about MLK a little more clearly. I heard McKenna tell Chandler that MLK “freed the slaves”.
No….no, sweetie that would be Abraham Lincoln. Of course Grandma Earle says “that’s what you get for sending your kids to public school” 
. It still made me laugh!
