Lookout School…here we come!

August 18, 2009

Last night we went to “meet the teacher night” and then took the kids to pick out one of the 31 flavors of icecream. (I had the Jamoca Almond Fudge 😉 ) On the way there Tom was telling me how the chapter would close that night and today would open a brand new one. He was right. I heard the page turn when I rolled out of bed at the crack of dawn.

Jaden is off to Kindergarten. I can’t believe the last 5 years have flown by so quickly and next year Evely will go. So here are pics of my morning. There are two pics of Jaden in his new Kindergarten class from last night. Julian said it would embarrass him to take a picture of him, so as much as I wanted to I refrained from whipping out the camera and snapping photos. Fourth grade is a big deal and I didn’t want to mortify him right out of the gate.

I’ll let the pics tell the story here. (One “mom” disclaimer is that I had new polo shirts for the boys to wear today but as you can see they picked something “more suitable”. I think it’s funny because what they picked represents each of their personalities completely.)

Hey, Barb, I had to include this one. It’s a “Daniel” picture!!

It’s crazy quiet here. Maybe now I’ll have more time to blog during the day…

  1. Hi Karen, I’m getting caught up with you. I’m also crying because of the two baby deers. How sweet of Tom to help that Mama and her two babies. She must have been frantic and yet thankful to mankind.

Those boys are really growing. Our school starts next week.

I came over to see how your mom is doing. Maybe I did not read far enough, but take it she is doing OK.

  2. Thanks for stopping by, Marlis! It’s good to hear from you. Mom is doing better than she was earlier this year. She is to have a PET scan on Thursday to see how the cancer is responding to the chemo she is on now.

We just continue to trust God each day to do His perfect will.

  3. The boys are cuties. I love the Spongebob shirt.

My day went sooooo fast. I didn’t get a lot done like I had planned. I have to pick Lydia up at 2:30. The day just flew by. As I expected, I will not be running out of stuff to do!

Our neighborhood was soooooooo quiet today. It was almost spooky.

  4. That’s funny-we always go to Dairy Queen after the “Meet the Teacher” night! I’m having a hard time remembering Chandler is in 1st grade this year! Maya will miss getting to go to Kindergarten next year by just 12 days! I was just telling a friend the other day to hold her one year old tight because they grow up way too quickly! Enjoy your quiet home…maybe things will slow down for you now.

  5. There must be something magical about ice cream, Amber. We find that so many of our celebrations or “rite of passage” moments revolve around ice cream. Guess it’s better than broccoli. 😉

  6. Jules, I am sure your day did fly by! I got a lot done. I’m trying to go through every room in the house and deep clean it. I did three rooms yesterday and it felt pretty darn good. Once I get done with that, I am going to concentrate on getting my ebaying back up and running. I, like you, am also going to do some reading that I have wanted to do for a long time.

I was so tired last night and was ready to go to bed with the kids at 8:30. This getting up early is something I have to readjust to.

  7. I feel for you guys…

    My heart is breakin’…

My tears, they fall like rain…(sniff)

    I have to get up…early…ohhhhhh

  8. Oh I’m JUST KIDDING!!!!!

  9. Hey Karen,

Yep, it’s a Daniel picture! A spittin’ image! It is hard to grasp just how quickly time passes and how fast the kids have grown until you see the pictures of how much they change from year to year! It’s unbelievable that Evely will be off to school next year!

Julian’s single strap back pack is cool, but I especially liked the back pack view of Sponge Bob! The boys look so independent. Thanks for sharing the pictures!
