Snow Day

We woke up early as usual and got Julian ready for school. I checked the closings list on the computer to make sure school was in session and it reported “no closings or delays”. So off to the bus stop he went. After waiting and waiting he came running.

“It must be a snow day, Mom! I’m gonna get my snowboard!”

So off to check the t.v and sure enough – no school. The first really decent snow of the season and the first snow day. How fun! (Too bad we didn’t sleep in.)

How cute! We “slept in” until 8:00 am-woohoo! Isn’t is funny how at this phase in our lives “sleeping in” is staying in bed till’ 8:00 am? Years ago it was more like 10:00 am

Now I feel bad for not letting the kids go outside to play today. It looked a little muddy and slushy, so they went to Wal-Mart with grandma to buy gifts off the angel tree for other kids. I won’t let them see the pictures of your kids in the snow :o !

What a mean mommy you are! I can’t believe that you don’t want to put on and take off and thousand layers of clothing twenty times, clean up snow and muddy floors, kiss cold fingers and take care of a newborn. You’re slipping, missy! You’re slipping!

Yes, I am….and I don’t care either! But, I did let Maya eat cookies for lunch today, so maybe that makes up for the lack of snow play :) .

They were even homemade Christmas cookies! Oh, and to make sure I earn extra points I even bought a 3 pack of whipped cream at Sam’s Club so that we would always have some to put on top of our hot chocolate. Yep….they think I’m SO cool when I put whipped cream and sprinkles on their hot coco!

We made Christmas cookies yesterday too. Sugar cookies and peanut clusters.

How, bout’ these snow days? It’s not even officially winter yet! Me thinks this is going to be another looooooooooong winter!

Off to restore order in my home & then bake more cookies (because Lord knows I’m not up for sending them outside right now).
