Would appreciate prayer. . .

This is a little update on Mom. I know that she would greatly appreciate prayer as she goes to the Urologist tomorrow. They put some stints in when they did her surgery a year ago. She recently found out that normally they are taken out shortly thereafter. They never scheduled her a post-op checkup with the urologist that put them in, so she didn’t know. They have given her some problems and she has an appointment tomorrow.

I know that just going to the dr. for her makes her probably want to run away screaming, after all she has been through. She is a little anxious about the appointment and what taking the stints out will entail. She would appreciate any prayers for her.

Thanks, everyone for praying. We continue to stand on the promises of God and know that what he says, He will follow through on.

Your title scared me at first. Phewwwww. . .

Karen, here’s that scripture I told you about.

Men swear by someone greater than themselves, and the oath confirms what is said and puts an end to argument. Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope offered to us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where Jesus, who went before us, has entered on our behalf. he has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek. Hebrews: 6:16-20

What a great verse on promise!! I will write that down. Thanks for sharing that Jules! I’ll make sure that Mom read that too – in case she doesn’t see it on here today.

The curtain part made me think of your Mom.

I just love this scripture. It’s so beautiful.

I am sorry she has to go to this appointment. I can only imagine how much she’s dreading it. My prayers are with her. I hope this deal is as quick and easy as possible.

I called Mom and gave her this verse. She probably wouldn’t have seen it before she went tomorrow. Thanks again for sharing!

Wow! Thanks Cindy! I copied it while I was there, so I’ll paste it here!

When God made his promise to Abraham, he backed it to the hilt, putting his own reputation on the line. He said, “I promise that I’ll bless you with everything I have—bless and bless and bless!” Abraham stuck it out and got everything that had been promised to him. When people make promises, they guarantee them by appeal to some authority above them so that if there is any question that they’ll make good on the promise, the authority will back them up. When God wanted to guarantee his promises, he gave his word, a rock-solid guarantee—God can’t break his word. And because his word cannot change, the promise is likewise unchangeable.
18-20We who have run for our very lives to God have every reason to grab the promised hope with both hands and never let go. It’s an unbreakable spiritual lifeline, reaching past all appearances right to the very presence of God where Jesus, running on ahead of us, has taken up his permanent post as high priest for us, in the order of Melchizedek.

    I am so encouraged!

Thank you, Cindy and Jules! Actually Hebrews is such a hard book for me for some reason. When I read stuff in there I have to read it several times to understand it. (Tom loves Hebrews and seems to just “get it”.)

So that really makes it understandable. What an awesome scripture! I love the “finality” of all the words in there: rock-solid, permanant, unchangeable and unbreakable!!! I’m so glad that God made a promise to Mom and that I can rely on that word and that he will not go back on it. :indeed

PRAISE THE LORD!!! In case you haven’t heard, to make a long story short, the doctor was able to remove the stint in his office today. He gave me some antiabotics, but I am doing fine after the “ordeal.”

Girls, thank you so much for the scriptures. They meant more to me than you have any idea. I read them before I left for my appointment. I needed all that encouragement not only for today, but just to keep trusting the Lord to bring more complete healing!! GOD IS SO GOOD even when “the going is tough.”

I am so glad that’s over for you and it was quick and easy (relatively speaking, of course). I am relieved for you!

The Message Bible is really great for philosophical passages that could use clarification or modern day verbage. I have found it to be not so good with passages that require exact translation such as prophecy (Daniel, Joel, etc.), I use it regularly with most New Testament personal studies.

…and I have difficulty with Hebrews as well. Karen’s the smarty one.
